Sun, Snow, Bounce Pit, and a Mocha Frapuccino
It’s been a good week.
Went to two T-Birds playoff games – sadly they lost both and were eliminated in Tri-Cities last night. Don’t think I’ll be making it to games next year when the team moves to Kent, which is unfortunate – I’ve gone to a good number of T-Birds hockey games in Seattle over the last 7+ years, especially when I first moved here. Oh well. Went to the Wingdome in Phinney on Thursday, and last night had a fun Happy Hour at Norm’s in Fremont with some friends from work. We chose Norm’s to allow Sadie, JJ’s golden retriever whom we’re watching for the weekend, to enjoy the fun. Must be difficult for a dog to behave in a place where pub food is coming and going at regular intervals (especially with other dogs to enliven the action). Sadie handled it alright.
After Norm’s, I picked up some sushi to go from Kisaku and had a relaxing dinner with Meagan before she hit the books for her test on Monday.
Today, it was 84° F in Seattle (at least according to my car thermometer), which made it the perfect Saturday to go…skiing at Alpental. Met my friend Eric in Snoqualmie this morning and then headed to Alpental for some gorgeous spring skiing.
I was on skis – snow was a bit thick at times, but hard to complain being out in the sun on a day like today.
About 65° F at the base of the mountain in the afternoon.
Highlights included:
Chilling on the mountain:
Attempting some jumps:
Clearly Eric has slightly better form than I do – or he missed my sweet move – going with the latter. Here’s my landing:
Encountering some avalanche debris on Edelweiss – that s**t was thick! I took a fall and could barely get my pole out.
Seeing a way overdone poodle at lunch:
Encountering more avy debris (recently fallen) on a cat track – they later closed this area to clear it out. First big ski warming equals high avalanche danger – even in bounds, apparently.
Playing in the bounce pit with Eric’s kids when we got home:
Damn, I wish I had one of those when I was younger. And a ball pit. Actually, I wish I had both of those now.
Weather was still beautiful back in town, so I headed out to Green Lake for a walk with the Meagan and Sadie, and, not surprisingly, all of Seattle. I celebrated the nice weather with my first Mocha Frapuccino in ages…delicious.
