Weekend Update
Friday: Went to happy hour at Linda’s - enjoyed the patio and fantastic summer weather that we’ve had of late. Then headed to a friend’s BBQ, where I proceeded to eat too much meat. Someone made a strawberry rhubarb pie, which was also fantastic. Catching up with friends was fun, although I discovered that I have a lot of improving to do in Wii Tennis. Fortunately, as I discovered today, I can still play the real thing.
Saturday: Went to the Hi-Spot cafe with Meagan in Madrona for a breakfast snack and coffee, then ventured down to Lake Washington Blvd for some biking and more awesome weather. Meagan and I then went to a sushi joint in Wallingford, enjoyed some fish and beer outside. Afterwards, went to Wide World Books & Maps to pick up a power adapter for Tanzania, and then stopped at Molly Moon’s, an organic ice cream place. The line was crazy but the raspberry and mango sorbet combo was awesome.
Afterwards, we headed home. I decided to go on another bike ride, this time around the North End of the lake. Unfortunately, I missed a turn in Lake Forest and ended up in Bothell, making my longish bike ride, even longer. When I made it home, 47 miles later, I was ready for food and fast - pasta, sausage, and spinach fit the bill. Highlight of the ride was riding through the Kirkland downtown waterfront. Lots of people out and about on a summer evening, with a good number of interesting looking places to eat on the water. Might have to venture out to the eastside one of these days.
Sunday: Helped Meagan make some rhubarb cakes for her co-workers in her medical program. Walked over to the lake, had a Pulled Pork sandwich and Tomato Basil soup. Headed home, said bye to Meagan (heading to Port Angeles for one more week), and then met JJ to play tennis. That was a lot of fun, neither of us had played in a few years, but, after shaking the rust off, had a competitive game…we’re both looking forward to a few rematches.
Afterwards, returned home, sat in the back yard in the sun and played with my camera. Made dinner, helped with some wedding plans, and now shopping for travel insurance for Africa.
All in all, pretty relaxing with lots of sun. Wedding and travel plans seem to be under control…although I’ll be looking forward to August when we don’t have to make some new decision every day.
